My work has always rode the line between art and design, and cover artwork and its subsequent packaging is the strongest example of this.

Cover art of course needs to reflect both the artist and release, and convey its style and message effectively through a visual medium in a way that feels authentic to them. I work closely with my clients to ensure this is achieved in every one of my cover art projects.

While the artwork is the primary focus, it can evolve beyond just a pretty image. I see cover artworks as having the potential for being the flagship for a wider collection, consisting of imagery, typography, art direction, packaging; and bleeding into other aspects such as tour and show posters, music videos and promotional headshots, and merchandise and products.

I’m naturally drawn to darker and more abstract visuals, but I try to avoid being too literal. I believe the strongest and best artworks leave space for interpretation, and allow people to create their own understandings and form a deeper emotional connection to the music.
