ISTVAAN III

A practice piece inspired by British metallic hardcore crossover band, Temple Guard; and their song "Istvaan III (Exterminatus)".

Featuring an experimentation into custom typography in the Perso-Arabic alphabet with a modern and geometric style. I love making custom typography, and this was an adventure into this realm outside of the Latin alphabet and was greatly educational and inspirational.

While Khopesh swords aren't originally Persian or from the Arabian Peninsula, the shape of these swords pairs perfectly with the Perso-Arabic alphabet in this stylisation, and made for a gorgeous combination.

I found an image of two angels falling, and gave them both Khopeshes to tie together the front and rear print.

Set up for screen printing. Two colours, four screens.
